Superior Fecal DNA Recovery with OMNIgene•GUT

This whitepaper compares fecal sample collection methods to evaluate DNA yield, quality and reproducibility in gut microbiome profiling.

DNA Genotek’s OMNIgene®•GUT system, featuring built-in homogenisation and stabilisation, was benchmarked against Zymo Research’s DNA/RNA Shield collection tube. Results showed OMNIgene•GUT produced significantly higher DNA yields and molecular weight, with less fragmentation and lower variability between replicates.

These findings demonstrate that OMNIgene•GUT enables more consistent and representative microbiome data, ensuring accurate microbial community analysis. Proper homogenisation and stabilisation at collection are critical for reproducible gut microbiome studies, making device design a key factor in data reliability.
